The Boothbay Region Food Pantry is sponsoring a free Community Food Distribution on Saturday, April 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. This first-time-ever pantry event is possible because the pantry is fortunate to have an abundance of food right now. Pantry directors are eager to distribute the food to anyone who wishes to attend. Come one! Come all! Come and get it! Everyone is welcome.
Among the many nonperishable items that will be available are beef stew, chicken, garbanzo beans, lentils, navy beans, split peas, egg noodles, milk, rice, raisins, saltines, peanut butter, pumpkin, cream of mushroom, tomato, and vegetable soup, and trail mix. Some perishable goods may also be available, such as bread, fresh produce, and deli items. Other items are likely to be added as excess goods accumulate prior to distribution day.
The Community Food Distribution will take place in the lower parking lot of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor, located at the corner of Eastern Avenue and Route 27. Please park in the church’s upper parking lot across the street from the church. Masks and hand sanitizer will be available. Bring your own bags, boxes, and helpers to carry away the food you have chosen. Pantry directors and other volunteers will be on hand to replenish food tables as needed so long as supplies last.
In the words of food pantry co-president Fleet Davies, “We hope to make this unusual event a great success and look forward to seeing lots of folks taking advantage of this opportunity to stock up on favorite foods or to add variety to their family meals.”
