For the second time this spring the Boothbay Region Food Pantry will sponsor a free Community Food Distribution for all. The give-away will take place on Saturday, May 15 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the lower parking lot of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor, which is located at the corner of Eastern Avenue and Route 27. The rain date is May 22.
The event is possible because the pantry is fortunate to have an abundance of food right now. Pantry directors are eager to distribute the food to anyone who wishes to attend. Come one! Come all! Everyone is welcome.
Among the many nonperishable items that will be available are beef stew, bagged chicken, garbanzo beans, black beans, lentils, egg noodles, boxed milk, mac and cheese, white rice, raisins, saltines, peanut butter, cream of mushroom, tomato, and vegetable soup, trail mix, pistachios, and almonds. Some perishable goods will also be available, such as bread, fresh produce, and deli items. Frozen items include meals and soups. Other items are likely to be added.
Please park in the church’s upper parking lot across the street from the church. Masks and hand sanitizer will be available. Bring your own bags, boxes, and helpers to carry away the food you have chosen. Pantry directors and other volunteers will be on hand to replenish food tables as needed so long as supplies last.
In the words of food pantry co-president Fleet Davies, “we hope to make this event a great success and look forward to seeing lots of folks taking advantage of this opportunity to stock up on favorite foods or to add variety to their family meals.”
