Jersey City’s July 4th celebration begins with food festival - The Hudson Reporter

×

This Sunday Jersey City will celebrate the Fourth of July with a daylong food and craft festival followed by the largest fireworks display in New Jersey.

The festivities begin at noon along the Jersey City waterfront at Exchange Place with delicious food, artisanal shopping, drinks, and music hosted by the city and Jersey City Night Market.

At 9:30 p.m., Jersey City’s fireworks – conducted by Guinness World Record holder Fireworks by Grucci – will launch from barges in the Hudson River. Spectators can see the pyrotechnic display from a larger viewing area this year.

They are visible along the Hudson River Walkway, from the north field at Liberty State Park, and most overlook areas in The Heights.

“As host of one of the biggest Fourth of July events in the region, we look forward to putting on one of the best celebrations yet again this year, with fireworks launching from two barges in the Hudson River,” said Mayor Steven Fulop.  “With Jersey City Night Market providing dayside food and entertainment, residents and visitors can enjoy a day of festivities as we celebrate our nation’s independence coupled with a sense of normalcy following a year of lockdowns worldwide.”

While there are no longer limits for outdoor gatherings, residents and visitors should observe all safety protocols.

“We’re so incredibly excited to partner with the City of Jersey City to celebrate our community, the resiliency of small business, and getting back to normal,” said Jersey City Night Market Co-owners, Alysis Vasquez and Perla Nieves. ”We will have a full day of authentic Jersey City vibes, and after the year we all have experienced, it is our collective priority that every aspect of this event be curated by local talent.”

Anyone attending the free event is strongly encouraged to arrive by foot, bike, or public transportation, as parking will be extremely limited.

Roads surrounding Montgomery Street where the festivities will be held, will be closed for the duration of the event.

Bike JC will host a free bicycle valet at Exchange Place.
