VIRGINIA — Cass County Food Pantry is planning an event Sunday that will benefit the pantry.
Cass County will hold the fundraising event at East Side Tavern on the square from 3 to 8 p.m.
There’s a $10 suggested donation for the event, said Tom Prather, board member of the Cass County Food Pantry.
Music will be provided by five local musicians who volunteered to play. Each musician will play for about an hour.
Pork chops will be served for dinner. The meat was provided by JBS in Beardstown, Prather said.
During the event, there will also be a raffle along with prizes.
All proceeds will go to the food pantry, said Prather, which is a 100% volunteer organization.
The idea for the event came from one of the musicians who will play during the event, he said. The idea for the fundraiser started a couple years ago.
Last year, the event had been cancelled because of the pandemic.
Putting on the event was just another way to help fund the pantry, which serves about 200 families a month.
The community has been supportive whenever the pantry has been in need, Prather said.
Prather said the pantry hopes to raise around $5,000 from the event.
