Celebrate Our 5-Year Anniversary with Two Houston Restaurant Events! - houstonfoodfinder.com

It hasn’t been easy, but thanks to our sponsors and supporting readers, we’re very proud to say that November 5 marks our fifth anniversary. There have been near misses. We’ve almost closed twice. However, thanks to our community of readers, we fought through the challenges and we’re still publishing some of Houston’s best restaurant and bar news. That is definitely worth celebrating! So, we hope you will join us at one (or both) of next week’s fun food and drink events! If you can’t make either, we’re also shipping the third edition of our very successful (and very limited) Goodie Boxes next week.

Houston Food Finder’s existence is due to the multitudes who believe in what we do. That includes our current and past sponsors and advertisers, our supporting readers, our editors, writers, social media managers (past and present), website developers and every restaurateur, bar owner, food and beverage company and public relations professional who gave us something for our newsletter giveaways or goodie boxes. Ultimately, our foundation and reason for existence is our readers, especially those who have shared our work with their friends, family and colleagues. I hope to thank many of you in person at one of our upcoming anniversary events.

Tuesday, November 9: Celebration Wine Dinner at Roma in Rice Village

Back when we were having a tough time, owner Shanon Scott of Roma at 2347 University stepped in and hosted a series of weekly, three-course wine dinners. Ten dollars of each meal went to support our work, and thanks to that and other fundraising efforts, Houston Food Finder pulled through. In honor of that, we’re celebrating by bringing back this three-course wine dinner for one night. It is easy to reserve. Just call Roma at (713) 664-7581 and ask to reserve seats for the Houston Food Finder wine dinner.

Here is executive chef Sandro Scarafile’s menu:

  • Panini al Polpo (octopus sliders with burrata) paired with Pighin 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, Friuli, Italy
  • Spaghetti Carbonara (spaghetti with egg, Pecorino Romano and guanciale) paired with Bertiolo 2018 Pinot Noir Trevenezie Cabert, Friuli, Italy
  • Stinco d’Agnello in Umido (braised lamb shank served with polenta and green beans) paired with Mauro Molino 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo Langhe, Piedmont, Italy

The cost is $69 per person plus tax and gratuity. $10 from each meal goes to support our work.

Wednesday, November 10: Celebration Party at Shoot The Moon in Spring Branch

Have you ever been to a gastropub where you can pour your own drinks? It’s fun, and since you can walk to a tap wall and pull yourself sample-sizes, you can try craft beer, wine, cocktails and spirits. But that’s not the only appeal of Shoot The Moon at 8155 Long Point, one of the newest restaurants in Spring Branch. The food by executive chef Dax McAnear (formerly of The Hay Merchant, Gravitas and more) and his team is also really good! Join us to celebrate, and your first drink(s) are on us — your ticket includes a $10 drink card!

For every two guests, Shoot The Moon will send out a housemade pizza, which will be continually emerging fresh and bubbly, and a selection of small plates. Share with friends and sample many of the dishes from the menu. Tickets are $59 and can be purchased online.

Tickets and free drink cards are for adults over 21 only. Under-age adults and kids will need to purchase food separately — water and sodas are complimentary.

Limited-Time Discount: Purchase your ticket no later than Saturday, November 6 and get a $10 early-bird discount!
