Senior Center holding food drive - Washington Daily News - thewashingtondailynews.com

The Grace Martin Harwell Senior Center will host its annual Thanksgiving food drive benefitting Eagle’s Wings Food Pantry on Friday, Nov. 12.

The theme for this years’ food drive is “Cash or Cans”. Senior Center staff will be having a competition with Brandi on Team Cash and Deb on Team Cans . Whichever team collects the most donations gets to smash a whipped cream pie in the other’s face. Cans are great to have on hand, but cash donations allow Eagle’s Wings to purchase food items in bulk at around 19 cents a pound. You can drop donations off inside from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. by entering through the main entrance by the small parking lot. A curbside drop-off option will also be available from 10 a.m. – noon. Enter the back parking lot from Second Street and stop at the back of the building.

The Grace Martin Harwell Senior Center is located at 310 W. Main St. in Washington, and is part of the City of Washington Parks and Recreation department. The Senior Center provides community members age 55 and older with programs and activities designed to enhance the quality of life and promote independent living
