EPCAN offers holiday food baskets again in 2021 - sign up by Dec. 10 - Plumas County Newspapers

Holiday season is upon us and EPCAN, your local food bank in Portola, is getting ready for its annual distribution of holiday food baskets for those local families who are in need of a little assistance. Hams have been purchased with a generous donation from the Salvation Army.  Chickens and all the dinner trimmings have been purchased with donations from individuals, nonprofit organizations, and businesses in the communities around us.

Individuals and families must sign up in advance for the holiday food distribution, which will be on Wednesday, Dec. 15m and Thursday, Dec. 16,  from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.  Signing up is easy – use the Salvation Army form sent in the mail to all residents or go to the Portola Family Resource Center at 165 Ridge St. in Portola. Those who wish to receive a food basket must sign up no later than Friday, Dec. 10 to ensure there is enough food for everyone. Distribution of food to those who sign up will be joyfully managed by EPCAN volunteers on Wednesday and the Graeagle Lions Club volunteers on Thursday.

The Eastern Plumas Community Assistance Network (EPCAN) operates the local food bank all year round at 120 Nevada Street.  The food bank is open Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9:30 – 11:30 and on Thursday afternoons from noon to 2: p.m.

The EPCAN Board is thankful for our donors, volunteers, and supporters. We are strictly a non-profit organization and depend on donations, as well as volunteers who give up their time to serve the community.
