READING, Pa. – Rentokil North America colleagues from the U.S. and Canada recently celebrated frontline workers by participating in its Hometown Heroes program.
More than 79 teams and districts participated in the Hometown Heroes program by delivering care packages, plants, food and other items to thank more than 3,700 frontline worker heroes. Ninety organizations were honored, including healthcare professionals, teachers, firefighters and food banks.
Sara Gmitro, program manager for Steritech, one of the Rentokil brands, chose to support the Northern Illinois Food Bank because of the increasing number of food insecure families in the community. It was an honor to give back to a food bank that served so many nearby communities, she said. The team donated 900 pounds of food, provided lunch to employees and volunteers as well as donated cakes to staff and local hospital employees.
Ashley DePaugh on Rentokil’s Operation Education and Training team worked with her colleagues to support educators and staff members. Teachers are now taking on an even bigger role than what was previously expected, she said. They are heroes because they provide comfort and familiarity during uncertain times. The team delivered lunch, gift cards and goodie bags to school staff at an elementary school in Mooresville, N.C. The team also created a thank you video for the staff.
Rentokil also highlighted colleagues that participate in essential, frontline services outside of their work responsibilities.
