Ice Cream Sandwiches Engineered by Food Names - The New York Times

You can order the desserts from the Musket Room, which is collaborating with chefs like JJ Johnson and Stefano Secchi and other food world personalities.

This is more complicated than running for the local Mister Softee truck, but also much more rewarding. Plan ahead and order ice cream sandwiches online from the Musket Room in NoLIta for pickup on Saturdays starting at 12:30 p.m. They offered the sandwiches last summer, but there’s a new twist: Each week’s offering, through the end of August, will be created in collaboration with a chef, bartender or food industry personality. This week it’s JJ Johnson of Fieldtrip, whose ice cream is inspired by jollof rice, with macaron cookies and popped rice. Next week will be Rezdora’s turn with Stefano Secchi’s brown butter truffle and ricotta ice creams between amaretto cookies. And so on throughout the summer.

Ice Cream Sandwiches, $9, The Musket Room, 265 Elizabeth Street, 212-219-0764, musketroom.com/online-ordering.
