BOWLING GREEN, KY. – A group or realtors worked Thursday to distribute around $18,000 worth of food to area school systems.
The REALTOR’S Association, in partnership with Feeding America: Kentucky’s Heartland, brought food to eight different school districts across the region.
Back in October, the REALTOR’S Association hosted a chili cook off to raise money for the groups Hope for Hunger campaign.
That 174,000 servings of food were finally collected and distributed to help feel local children that may not know where their next meal is coming from.
Brooke Vinson, the chair of the community service committee, says this food distribution hit home.
“Our parents struggled to get food on the table so it’s something that I can certainly relate to. I was one of those kids. Unfortunately, many years ago when I was at age, I don’t even think we had those programs. So, it’s something that’s always been something very close to my heart. I can’t even bear the thought of a child going to bed hungry,” said Vinson.
The association also donated over $4,000 to Hotel Inc. as well.
